Storks were visiting the field as they baled the mows of straw, thus clearing the field for the storks to feast on whatever they found where the mows had been. Toads, mice, rolleypolleys, hopefully killer slugs, probably anything that could go down their hatchet. I don't really know what storks eat. They were far from afraid of the machinery, walking close by. The neighbor farmer said he had seen 14 storks there today. He said another farmer some hour to the east had had 30 storks land on his roof.....it must be a terrific year for all birds.
